There is definitely something for everyone to enjoy at the Mitchell Fair on Saturday. From the kick off parade to our Fair’s headliners “The Mudmen”. You’re sure to have a great time with all of your family and friends. Below you’ll find the listing for Saturday’s Events – by the location they’ll be held at.

Weekend Event - Pioneer Hobby Show

Mitchell Pioneer & Hobby Association

Come and see the featured exhibit on “John Deere” in addition to a number of early gas and diesel tractors, old gas engines, Baker fan, antique cars and trucks, old farm machinery and the always popular; rope making demonstration.

The Parade: 11:30am

Saturday Events - paradeAn annual tradition, starting at Upper Thames Elementary School, the parade works it way to the fair grounds. Click “route” to go to the page with the map of the parade route.

Always colourful and entertaining, the fair kicks off our Saturday events schedule. Come welcome the participants, derby cars, riders, and much much more. Then enter the Fair and enjoy all it has to offer, from the Midway to our musical and pet entertainers. View the creative talents of our community in the Crystal Palace and enjoy great food. On the Track:

The 4-H Dairy/Beef Achievement Day – 10 am at the Barn

Saturday Events - 4H Dairy and Beef AchievementsBeginning at 10am, come and enjoy the 4-H competitions through out the day.

Our registrants are proud to bring their prized cattle to the fair to be judged in a friendly competition with their neighbours. Who will walk away with the best-of-class this year? They put a lot of work into their animals.

Come out and show your support.

 

The Purebred Haflinger Show – 1:15pm

Saturday Event Halflinger ShowJoin our conveners; Bob Rice, David Kemp, Winston Jibb, Ron and Carole Gethke as they oversee the purebred halflinger competition on our track. The opening Saturday event, has horses competing in both Line and Hitch categories. For a list of the classes in each category, visit our 2017 Prize Book on pages 41.

Come cheer on the competitors and your favourite horse!

 

Saturday Events - 4 Paws ShowThe Four Paws Flying Dogs Shows: 4:00, 6:00 and 8:00pm

After their successful 1st visit to the Mitchell Fair, The Four Paws Flying Dogs return to the Fair to thrill you with their exceptional skills. You’ll see many breeds, some rescued from shelters. The performance will include World Champion skilled disc catching dogs, high flying freestyle disc dogs, amazing high jumping dogs, agility and very cute trick dogs! Fun for the whole family. Chose the time that suits you best, find a comfy spot and enjoy!

The Pavillion Stage on the Grounds:

The Inaugural Teen Dance – Featuring Boyz of Pop – 7:00 to 9:00 pm

Saturday Event - Boyz of Pop Teen DanceCanada’s # 1 Boy Band . Recording Artist The Boyz of Pop are on Tour and coming to the Mitchell Fair , to perform many hit songs from the pop charts and keep their audience dancing and singing during this Live Concert Performance. This event is for teens 11 – 17 years of age.

The Ponderosa Stage:

The Skyline Studio Showcase – 2:00 to 4:00 pm

Saturday Events Skyline StudiosJoin the diverse and talented group from Mitchell’s own Skyline Studio’s as they entertain our fair guests.

Lead by Dustin Smith, Skyline’s owner and talented musician in his own right, the students have been working hard and we’re certain you’ll not only find them entertaining, you’ll find them full of energy, enthusiasm and talent. Come see tomorrow’s musical leaders today.

Molly Morrison and Quintin McEwen 8:30 – 9:30 pm

Saturday Event Molly and QuintinJoining forces for the first time on the Ponderosa stage, enjoy the musical talents of Molly Morrison and Quintin McEwen.  Fresh from their earlier set at the Arena, their set will sure to entertain and get you ready for the headlining act.

Both local residents and musicians, their set will is sure to entertain!

Quintin, you’ll recall was the Mitchell Fair’s 2011 Ambassador.

 

The MUDMEN – Headliners 9:30 pm to 1:00 am.

Saturday Events - Headlines The MudMenReturning to Mitchell is our Saturday Event Headliners, The MUDMEN. Always entertaining and definitely unique, The Mudmen are a blast of Celtic energy whose members are known to be characters both on and off the stage. Click here to see them in action.

From their earlier days of with the Campbell Brothers, the band has continued to excel and thrill audiences throughout Canada. Currently on tour in Ontario and Quebec, the Mudmen take the Ponderosa stage at 9:30 pm in what is sure to be a memorable event! Please note there is an additional fee for the concert. You can get your tickets at the gate.

The Arena:

Jason Lamont: 5:30 – 6:30 pm

Saturday event, Jason LamontSchedule change: Molly and Quintin are unable to make the early set. We’re fortunate to have the very talented Jason Lamont fill in for them. Enjoy Jason’s traditional country renditions, from Cash to Jennings and much more in between. Come and enjoy their set while enjoying our Bar-B-Q Smoked Pork Chop dinner.

Bar-B-Q Smoked Pork Chop dinner: 5:30 – 7:00pm $20/person

The Menu is – Bar-B-Q smoked pork chop, baked potatoes, baked beans, coleslaw, relish tray, applesauce, roll & butter, coffee/tea, milk or water with pie for dessert. $20.00 per person. Gate admission is NOT included, but does include the concert/ dance with first, Molly Morrison and Quintin McEwen (5:30 – 6:30pm) followed by Sons of Song (7 – 9:30pm). To get your ticket, visit our President Winnie Linton at the Mitchell Arena between 1 and 3 on Thursday August 31st. Tickets will be also be available at the Crystal Palace office and the Arena on Friday and up to the event on Saturday.
